Field notes on the ordinary
Personal unfiltered(mostly) thoughts:

I like the approach ~Sholto Douglas expressed~ in his interview with Dwarkesh Patel: If I’m trying to write some code and something isn’t working, even if it’s in another part of the code base, I’ll often just go in and fix that thing or at least hack it together to be able to get results. […] I think that’s arguably the most important quality in almost anything. It’s just pursuing it to the end of the earth. Whatever you need to do to make it happen, you’ll make it happen. […] I’m just going to vertically solve the entire thing. And that turns out to be remarkably effective.
Whenever I am being unnecessarily nostalgic(and I am not drinking). I know I am wasting energy. I could be thinking of the future. I could be working.
may everything I do be a labor of love

“Making things is hard and I feel like that’s the most useful thing to say about it. You have to try to be consistent, you have to practice constantly, you have to read, and you can’t make yourself be interested in topics you aren’t interested in. And you have to accept that it’s always going to be challenging. My friend said this about her work, which is very different (she’s running a company): I just had to accept that my life was going to be difficult for a long time. There was something comforting about that thought for me.” -Book bear
I am by nature or by upbringing somewhat of a complainer. By the time I become a parent if there is one thing I really want, it is to not be that.

Long context LLMs: Of all the things possible with infinitely long context. One thing I am personally interested in is LLMs truly understanding the context of what I understand already and will help me build on top of the knowledge I already possess. Like imagine a constant companion who knows what you really know, how you learn and helps you learn further.
I want to write something on how to get good at doing nothing. I really think this too is a skill you can get better at. I think people are increasingly becoming bad at doing nothing. I was peak amazing at doing nothing then it became worse now it’s getting better.
10 years later in tech… What do I want my tweet to say? Time to get serious.
